FAQs

What is Hard Cider?

Unlike beer, which is primarily water, true hard cider is apple juice that is fresh pressed from apples and then fermented into an alcoholic drink; NO heat, NO water.

What is a Cidery?

Similar to how a winery makes wine, a cidery makes hard cider (aka apple fruit wine).

Is your Cider Gluten Free?

The fresh pressed apple juice and flavor ingredients that go into our Hard Ciders are naturally gluten-free.* ** We list all ingredients on our bottles and will happily answer any questions you have about our products.

*Hops are naturally gluten-free, however the Galaxy Hops we use has the warning ‘Manufactured in a facility which processes wheat, milk, eggs and tree nuts’; we recommend using extreme caution depending on the severity of your allergy.

**Our Bourbon Barrel Aged Hard Ciders are aged in barrels that formerly contained Bourbon. Bourbon is made out of corn and maze, but also includes other grains too. It is thought the distillation process removes gluten and in most circles, bourbon is considered gluten-free. That said, we recommend using extreme caution depending on the severity of your allergy.

Is your Cider overly sweet?

Never! While we do plan to make some ‘semi-sweet’ ciders (by international standards), we primarily specialize in dry ciders. ‘Dry’ ciders have no or very low levels of residual sweetness. Dry ciders are much more sessionable (easy drinking) and do not leave the consumer with a heavy feeling in their stomach, unlike the sugary hard ciders the big guys crank out.

Where can I buy your Cider?

You can buy our Ciders directly from our Cidery (544 W. 17th Ave, Oshkosh, WI 54902). Wagner Market also sells our bottles (502 N Main St, Oshkosh, WI 54901) and the Oshkosh Food Co-Op (155 Jackson St #101, Oshkosh, WI 54901). Other bottle and tap locations can also be found on our location and hours page. Check back on this website or our social media accounts for updates on new locations.

Where do the Apples come from?

Currently we source all of our apples from local Wisconsin Orchards. A day may come when we use some of our neighbors apples (Michigan), but so far we have sourced only from Wisconsin and we hope to keep it that way. We also source our flavor ingredients locally when possible too or from a local vendor.

Does Cider have history in America?

Did you think Johnny Appleseed (aka John Chapman) was eating all those apples? No, he was drinking them! Cider was important to early settlers and was safer than drinking the water! Low alcohol ciders were even given to the kids. Cider was a common American staple until the late 1800’s; political pressures, delicious Bavarian beer becoming available and finally prohibition brought an end to the Cider tradition…until now! Cider has seen a big rise recently, with Cideries running strong on the West and East coast and now popping up all over the Midwest too.

Why an Urban Nano Cidery in Oshkosh?

Because Oshkosh deserves a proper Cider! A good portion of wineries and cideries are located next to their vineyard or orchard. We model ourselves after West Coast cideries that operate in urban centers and source their apples from apple growers.

We love the neighborhood we are nestled in. Everyone has been very welcoming, and we wouldn’t have it any other way Oshkosh. Cheers!
